I am a daisy

this morning I unfolded my petals
and peeped out
to look for the sun
longing for that warm embrace
but it was cold
and overcast
so I hugged my petals more tightly around me
I donβt want to be picked
today
I donβt want to be trodden on
no thanks
today
I want to be caressed by the breeze
or stroked by the soft fur of a rabbit
brushing past
and feel blossom petals falling on my face
I am a daisy
even though I cast furtive glances
looking for the sunshine kiss
I find strength in feeling rooted
I know that the ground is there
Then comes the sun.
